Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLoads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant or work site, performing any combination of following duties: Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Opens containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, clawhammer, or other hand tools. Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand. Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools. Conveys materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, or other device. Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination, using hand-operated crane or hoist, or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination. Lifts heavy objects by hand or using power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment, using broom, rags, and cleaning compounds, to assist machine operators. Makes simple adjustments or repairs, such as realigning belts or replacing rollers, using hand tools. May occasionally operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products. Process incoming product or materials by unloading trucks and verifying as well as inspecting for damage incoming pieces of freight. Pick parts from warehouse location and deliver to production line, correctly marking pick lists and pick tickets. Submit all labor/time and production documents timely and accurately. Accurately select and process customer orders, ensuring customer expectations are met. Complete safety training as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Prompt regular attendance is required. |
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:Education and/or Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent. More than 6 months experience in Materials and/or Logistics role in a manufacturing environment preferred. |
Language Skills:Read, write, and verbally communicate in English. Excellent communication skills in working with in house staff and outside vendors such as freight carriers and sales personnel. |
Computer Skills:Proficiency in using the personal computer, including Windows-based applications. Experience with Oracle, SAP, or similar inventory control system a plus. Experience with UPS Worldship a plus. |
Reasoning Abilities:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to prioritize and multi-task. Person must be resourceful and a self-starter with the ability to work with limited direct supervision. Must be able to work in fast paced, quick changing atmosphere. |
AuthorityInitiate solutions to quality related problems. Prevent non-conforming product. Make and implement decisions within their areas of responsibility. Report any possible safety hazards to supervisor or lead person. |
Physical/Mental Demands:Must be alert, able to concentrate, able to use good judgement and analytical skills. Able to sit, stand and perform repetitive activities for sustained periods of time. Uses hands to type on standard pc keyboard frequently. Works in normally stressful environment with significant pressure. Move about facility to interact with employees. Multi-task on several jobs at once. Uses hands to write legibly. Reads written information and requires the ability to understand conceptual material. Must be able to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment safely. Must be able to lift 75 lbs assisted. Must be able to lift 50 lbs occasionally. |
