Job Summary:

Reporting to the Supervisor/Manager this position is responsible for executing routine technical activities and coordinating and supporting more complex technical deliverables. The role requires technical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and excellent teamwork skills to be successful.
• Provides technical assistance in support of others.
• Applies technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction.

Job Description:

  • Assist and performs assignments in specialized areas requiring technical skills.

  • Supports projects within scope, schedule, and cost.  

  • Supports review of functional specifications for completeness and consider practical limitations. 

  • Collaborates with design activities as a member of a multi-disciplinary technical team. 

  • Supports with basic work planning, budgeting and cost estimating.  

  • Supports development and updating single line diagrams, and design drawings, and equipment specifications.  Supports material procurement.

  • Supports QA/QC process. 

  • Provides technical support to field and construction groups. 

  •  Assist with and improvement processes and standards. 

  • Collaborates with reporting, including presentations to work groups and management. 

  • Position may be required to work extended hours including major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Additional Job Description:

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • BS in a technical field from ABET-accredited college.
  • Two years of applicable experience or a combination of education and applicable experience.  Master’s degree counts as one year. 

Skills

  • General knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform assignments for a specific discipline, various installations, or services
  • Business knowledge in the utility & regulated environment. 
  • Proven experience applying sound judgment to make decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship development skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent team player and ability to prioritize assignments to meet commitments.
  • Problem-solving skills with proven ability to resolve engineering issues.
  • Mentor to junior team members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a technical discipline. 
  • Experience in utility industry trade organizations.
