    This position is located at the Bayou La Batre, AL facility.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities

    • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and workplace safety programs.
    • Maintain a facility which promotes Birdon as world class manufacturers through an orderly and functioning workplace.
    • Performs regular preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities as required per the maintenance schedules that have been established.
    • Performs repairs to facility offices such as painting, dry wall repair, fixtures, plumbing, changing filters, lights.
    • Observes production, warehouse, and office areas for any unsafe conditions and reports to manager and repair if required.
    • Communicates with outside vendors and service organizations as needed to schedule, oversee, and approve work provided.
    • Create and present estimates to management for repair projects as required.
    • Drives company vehicles for repairs, pick-ups, deliveries in a safe manner.
    • Ability to achieve forklift certification and safely use the forklift on occasions when necessary
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. 


    Required Skills:

    • This position requires strong interpersonal relationships with managers, senior management, and external contacts regarding the role's functional areas of expertise.
    • The position interacts with other employees in multiple work areas.
    • Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics.
    • Good communication skills both verbal and written.


    Working Conditions

    • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment where exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp cutting tools, dust, fumes and airborne particles, temperature extremes and elevated noise level. 
    • Employees must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and or move more than 75 pounds.
    • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, talk and hear. 
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to, eye safety glasses, hearing protection and work boots.
