Talent Acquisition Specialist

Located onsite in our Bayou La Batre, AL location. 

The Talent Acquisition Specialist at Birdon is responsible for driving full-cycle recruitment efforts to attract, engage, and hire skilled talent across our marine, defense, and manufacturing operations. This role plays a critical part in supporting Birdon’s growth by building strong talent pipelines for both technical and professional roles, including skilled trades, engineering, project management, and corporate functions.

This position partners closely with hiring managers across all levels to understand workforce needs, deliver targeted recruiting strategies, and ensure a positive candidate experience that reflects Birdon’s values of safety, quality, and operational excellence. This is an onsite position!

Some of the main duties include:

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment for a variety of roles, with an emphasis on skilled trades, shipyard/industrial positions, and technical professionals. 


  • Source, screen, and interview candidates to assess both qualifications and cultural fit. 


  • Extend offers, oversee pre-employment processes, and ensure smooth onboarding handoff.


  • Proactively source candidates through trade schools, apprenticeship programs, military transition programs, job boards, and industry networks. 


  • Develop and maintain pipelines for hard-to-fill positions such as welders, fitters, electricians, machinists, engineers, and project personnel. 


  • Build relationships with community partners, workforce development organizations, and local training programs.


Minimum Qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of TA experience with a strong emphasis on recruiting. 
  • Experience with exempt level hiring in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Proficiency with HRIS and ATS platforms (preferably ADP Workforce Now). 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
