Job Summary:
The CDL Driver (A) - Yard position requires a qualified individual to move trailers and equipment throughout the facility, conduct inspections of equipment, report defects to dispatch or supervisors, and operate yard and material handling equipment in a dirty, wet, and noisy environment in all weather conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate yard trucks and equipment safely during procedures involving both loaded and empty containers
- Transfer and reposition trailers within the yard and designated areas
- Assist with staging and organizing trailers for loading and unloading
- Complete necessary paperwork including trailer numbers, weights, and material type
- Inspect equipment before and after use and report any issues to dispatch or supervisor
- Assist in loading and unloading tasks as needed
- Back trailers into designated areas for efficient operations
- Collaborate with team members to maintain smooth yard operations
- Adhere to safety standards and company policies at all times
- Maintain yard equipment in good working condition
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Reliable and cooperative team member
- Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, and dirty conditions
- Ability to safely operate yard equipment in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to learn trailer positioning and backing techniques
- Willingness to be trained and certified to operate a forklift
- Excellent communication skills
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of one year of relevant yard, warehouse, or industrial experience
- Prior experience in tire recycling or manufacturing is a plus
- Ability to learn and operate yard trucks and equipment safely
