Job Summary

Summer intern for R&D analytical GCMS group

The GCMS team is seeking an intern who will work side by side with the team. We are looking for motivated individuals who are passionate about scientific discovery, bring a strong academic background, and contribute actively through clear communication and teamwork.

As part of the Structure Elucidation Group, the GC–MS team is responsible for identifying compounds across a wide range of matrices from both the Taste and Scent divisions, using EI fragmentation patterns. Ideal candidates will have completed coursework in organic chemistry and instrumental analysis, with preference given to those who have hands-on experience with GC and GC–MS techniques. Familiarity with cheminformatics tools is a strong plus.

Interns will actively uphold safe laboratory practices, share and defend their findings, and interpret results alongside a collaborative scientific team. They will engage in departmental and team meetings to gain first‑hand insight into the dynamic Scent and Taste industry.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, or a related field.

• Experience or familiarity with instrumental analysis techniques and software, including GC, GC–MS, and IR. Exposure to MassHunter, ChemStation, or OMNIC software is a plus, but not required.

• Solid foundation in organic laboratory techniques, with a strong understanding of functional group behavior and reaction mechanisms.
