Neapco is seeking a results-driven individual to join our team as a Heat Treat Operator. The Heat Treat Operator will be responsible for Operate and maintain heat treating equipment to efficiently and accurately treat parts, meeting specifications. This position will report to the Production Supervisor and is based at our Components location in Beatrice, Nebraska. It is extremely important this team member be aligned with Neapco’s Core Values of Partnership, Passion, Agility, Teamwork, Integrity, and Diversity and Neapco’s Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility goals and objectives. Compensation dependent upon qualifications. 

 

Job Description: Heat Treat Operator

2nd shift - up to $2,000 Welcome Bonus

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Control furnaces to heat treat metal components.
  • Determine temperature and time of heating cycle according to specification.
  • Make necessary adjustments/changes.
  • Load and unload parts into furnace.
  • Test hardness of parts.
  • Tag quality of parts.
  • Anticipate and make adjustments for external factors impacting furnaces and/or generators.
  • Complete reports indicating status of parts.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as allowable in furnace area.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition, and also maintain and sustain the 5s standards.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the position or supervisor.
  • Rotate tasks within the work group.
  • Work extra hours to maintain production needs if necessary.
  • Identify and recommend cost-saving opportunities.
  • Must be able to start up and shutdown all equipment in area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Use various hand tools and measuring devices.

 

Required Skills

  • Position requires basic math and excellent mechanical skills. Must have the ability to read, understand and utilize blue prints and schematics, measuring devices and gages.  Requires the ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions and to work effectively with others, including production supervisor, engineering and quality department personnel.  Must have a level of responsibility to work with a minimum of supervision and the ability to recognize and take appropriate steps in situations requiring immediate corrective action. 

 

 

Education

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalency required. Vocational training preferred.  
  • Previous experience within the manufacturing environment and/or similar mechanical/production   Prefer six to twelve months industrial-environment experience or equivalent level of post-high school technical training. 
  • Fork truck operator certification.

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • Must possess physical dexterity and the ability to lift 40 pounds from the floor. Position may involve working in hot conditions, frequent bending, reaching, standing for long periods of time and repetitive activity involving wrist, hands and fingers.
