Color Materials and Graphics Designer – NIKE Inc., Beaverton, OR. Perform and apply specialized technical knowledge to design, create, and present high-quality, photorealistic 3D digital materials and complex procedural systems using Adobe Substance Designer and the Adobe Substance 3D Suite. Develop advanced parametric and algorithm-driven material systems to support scalable, non-destructive material authoring and design iteration. Execute look development, lighting, and rendering workflows by applying an advanced understanding of the interaction between color, materials, and light using physically based and path-tracing rendering engines. Utilize real-time rendering engines and workflows to support interactive visualization and design evaluation. Design, develop, and maintain custom tools and procedural workflows to accelerate internal design processes and improve efficiency, quality, and consistency of digital material creation. Define, document, and maintain technical standards, best practices, and reusable systems for digital material creation and visualization workflows. Analyze requirements and design, create, and present new technical workflows and tools that enable faster and more informed design decision-making. Share tools, workflows, and technical knowledge with internal partners to improve team-wide productivity and capability. Partner cross-functionally with design and development teams to recommend, define, and implement 3D and procedural design workflows. Influence design and development teams to adopt and collaborate using advanced 3D, procedural, and computational tools. Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship by teaching new tools, techniques, and workflows to team members. Collaborate across project teams and technical environments to meet milestones and deliverables. Work iteratively and efficiently on innovative tools and workflows, providing feedback and technical input to improve systems and outcomes. Telecommuting is available from anywhere in the U.S., except from AK, AL, AR, DE, HI, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MT, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, RI, SD, VT, WV, and WY. 

Must have a Master’s degree in Science in Landscape Architecture, Art, Design, Science, Engineering and 1 years of experience in the job offered or a Design-related occupation. 

Position requires: 

  • Advanced procedural and parametric material creation 

  • Algorithmic pattern generation and technical pattern systems for materials 

  • Development and application of non-destructive, data-driven material workflow 

  • Complex 3D material authoring using node-based material systems 

  • Physically Based Material creation for photorealistic visualization 

  • Look Development for digital materials across multiple lighting and rendering contexts 

  • Iterative concept material development to support early design decision-making 

  • Physically Based Rendering (PBR) theory and implementation 

  • Path tracing and real-time rendering workflows 

  • Optimization of materials for both offline and real-time rendering contexts 

  • Advanced technical research skills applied to digital material systems 

  • Exploration, evaluation, and adoption of emerging technologies in digital design and visualization
