WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You will report to a Leader of Technical Design within the Energy team. The Lead Technical Developer will collaborate with Design, Product Management, materials, quality, color, Merchandising, Planning, Sourcing, and our factory partners to effectively execute on product development and fit goal deliverables.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Lead Technical Developer with expertise in project management, construction, fit standards, textiles, trims, and graphics to be part of our creative team within Nike Apparel. We are seeking an optimistic, self-aware collaborator who embraces change, accountability, feedback, and diverse perspectives. A key part of this role is understanding the full scope of product creation from design concept to production, driving discussions to meet on-time delivery dates, leading the team with technical recommendations that serve our athletes and consumers and communicating issues or offering solutions in a fast-paced environment. You will work on complex styles to create and update Tech Packs and Development documentation for our factory partners, including measurements, construction sketches, graphic placements, and Bill of Materials. You will lead proto review sessions and write comments. In addition, you will drive and execute fit and construction standards for a team or product group to ensure consistency. You will raise awareness of potential quality or manufacturing risks and influence triad partners to resolve prior to prototype creation. You will track and request prototypes for your styles end-to-end, manage and meet your calendar target dates, attend meetings that relate to your product’s development and communicate progress and challenges to your team as needed.

  • Bachelor's degree in apparel design, textile science or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training.   
  • 6+ years technical development experience in the apparel industry, which includes the apparel development process from inception through production including construction, materials, costing, print / graphics, manufacturing, and quality.
  • Ability to write product specs and advanced construction instructions along with interpreting design intent and offering alternative solutions.
  • Ability to act as a technical resource, mentor others and lead initiatives through high energy and positive influence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to excel in a deadline driven environment. Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills, attention to detail and process orientation while being versatile and a forward thinker.
  • An active listener who influences the team when needed while demonstrating credibility and reliability.
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs, PLM software and confidence using Adobe Illustrator and CAD Pattern Design software. Experience with Optitex/Browzwear/CLO.
  • Ability to travel 10% (domestic and international)

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

You will work within the Energy Apparel team, managing your assigned styles collaboratively with your cross-functional partners on creative solutions and execution while creating digital protos and tech packs for our factories. You will review protos and samples, taking the styles through the creation process to meet gates and dates to ensure on-time production.
