POSITION SUMMARY: The Local Driver will have a valid Class A CDL. This person will have a positive attitude, be willing to work as a strong team member, be a dependable and professional team leader, and be neat in appearance.Â

REPORTS TO: Fleet Manager, Traffic Manager, or Operations Manager

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Â
- Always utilizes defensive driving techniques and follows traffic lawsÂ
- Maintains logs and records according to regulations as requiredÂ
- Performs deliveries, pickups, loading and unloading when neededÂ
- Submits to random drug and alcohol testing per DOT regulationsÂ
- Keeps medical certificate up to date
- Keeps commercial driver license up to dateÂ
- Operates company equipment in accordance with established safety proceduresÂ
- Superb communication
- Perform timely deliveries for customersÂ
- Maintain a positive attitude with customersÂ
- Keeps a clean vehicleÂ
- Inspect trucks and record issuesÂ
- Report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel
- Regular and timely attendance are an expectation of the position.
- Follow the 5S foundations for deploying lean production tools and processes.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Properly drive and utilize a forklift
- Perform physical labor tasks as assigned
Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- CDL Class A
COMPETENCIES:
- Strong communication skillsÂ
- Ability to adhere to deadlinesÂ
- Basic mechanical knowledgeÂ
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Physical Activity: Talking, hearing, repetitive motion, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, and liftingÂ
- Physical Requirements: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Â
- Visual Acuity: ability to operate machinery and determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned including to make general observations. Â
