Job DetailsJob Location: Independent Can Co Belcamp - Belcamp, MD 21017Salary Range: $65,000.00 - $84,900.00 HourlyJob Shift: 1stSUMMARY: The Product Engineer I is responsible for the design of new and existing products. The individual must consider manufacturing capabilities, available machinery, material characteristics, quality programs, customer specifications, and can making standards throughout the process. The Product Engineer will work closely with Product Planning to ensure accurate BOMs and work centers. Commitment to and support of the Company Core Values are key to success in this position.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supports Production, Finance, and Sales departments with technical drawings, standardized procedures, and quote estimates Prepares product drawings using Solidworks. Determines process limitations from multiple information sources to assign accurate dimensions and tolerances. Evaluates customer order requirements as well as customer drawings and specifications to support quote activities and order fulfillment. Provides engineering support by troubleshooting problems and effecting timely solutions  to maintain the continuity of product flow. Confers with Pre-Press, Lithography (metal printing), and Operations to determine technical capabilities and produce accurate flat-pattern layouts which are used for metal printing, coating, and slitting, and stamping. Assists with other departments as assigned by the Product Engineering Manager to resolve Engineering related issues. Assists in maintaining accurate Engineering data by making updates and corrections as needed. This includes but is not limited to drawing files, drawing databases (Solidworks PDM), Engineering Change Request (ECR) records, and packaging specifications. Uses packaging software (Cape-Pack) to prepare packaging specifications used by operations and quoting team. Perform cut edge calculations, product construction, and provide steel and other material specifications to support quoting activities. Verify and input data as required for the accurate completion of BOMs and routing in an ERP system Follows Company personnel and product safety requirements including standards such as those from SQF and internal GMPs. Independently travel domestically and internationally. Other duties as assigned.   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Degree in an Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited College and 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; including co-op and internship experience.   LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and other employees.   REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
