Job Description Summary

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections of building systems and equipment to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment. This role requires a hands-on professional with strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify issues and ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs
  • Maintain and repair tools, equipment, and machinery
  • Perform basic carpentry, painting, and general upkeep tasks
  • Monitor building systems (lighting, heating, cooling, etc.) for efficiency and proper operation
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and repairs
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors when necessary
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification preferred)
  • 5 years’ experience in facility maintenance or a related field
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems
  • Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking systems

Preferred Skills:

  • HVAC certification or relevant trade license
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs
  • Knowledge of safety standards and OSHA regulations
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs or more
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces

Work Schedule

1st shift may need to work weekends and be on call for facility emergencies.
