Job DetailsJob Location: Bellefontaine, OH 43311Pharmacy Technician In-Training Department:  Pharmacy   Time Commitment: Full-time/Part-time Reports To:   Community Pharmacy Manager FLSA Status:  Hourly/ Non-Exempt Primary location: Bellefontaine Summary CHWP utilizes a team-based care model, sharing patient-care responsibilities among members of a team. Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician In-Training is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in filling prescriptions, billing of prescriptions to third parties, collection of payments from patients, maintaining drug inventory, and excellent customer service. The clinical pharmacy technician in-training works in conjunction with other clinical staff to optimize pharmacy services being delivered at CHWP. Primary Accountabilities Achieve Results Meet or exceed all measurable standards of care, including overall clinical, quality, and productivity goals. Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and appropriate confidentiality with patient charting and related recordkeeping and administrative functions as assigned.   Operational Excellence Understand and ensure all practices and procedures related to the delivery of medical services are consistent with contracted protocols and procedures, and that the team-based care model is followed with efficiency.   Relationship Management Develop and ensure favorable relationships with all patients and their families.  Achieve commitments from patients to adhere to an effective plan of care and ensure all patient services are delivered in a caring and professional manner.  Develop and ensure ongoing, positive relationships and collaboration with members of the team assigned.  Ensure the success of team-based care and that relationships with all clinic operations staff are highly respected.   Professionalism & Stewardship Ensure all actions, job performance, personal conduct and communications always represent the organization in a highly professional manner. Uphold and ensure compliance and attention to all corporate policies and procedures as well as the overall mission and values of the organization. Primary Tasks and Duties Assist with quality improvement initiatives and update records as needed to maintain compliance and certification with various agencies (e.g. ADCES, NCQA, etc.) Assist with data gathering and analysis related to clinical pharmacy services. Assist in performing duties related to Medication Therapy Management or other patient care initiatives Assist clinical staff with formulary questions, prior authorizations, etc. Initiates and corresponds with 3rd party insurers regarding coverage information and follows up with resolution solutions Corresponds with 3rd party insurers regarding drug rejections, reversals, additions and inquiries regarding reimbursements. Initiate contact with providers to obtain corrections or clarification of prescription. Assist with policy and procedure development. Maintains patient confidentiality. Participates in site meetings to address patient care and operational requirements, including one-on-one communication. Prescriptions - (Data entry) Enters patient information including insurance coverage and prescriptions in the pharmacy software. Submits insurance claims and follows up on rejections. Types labels neatly and without error. Counts and measures medications correctly. Communication Greets and assists patients and visitors in a professional, friendly, and hospitable manner. Answers all incoming calls in a professional, friendly, and hospitable manner and if needed, redirects accordingly. Sends all correspondence, education, and pertinent information to patients in a timely manner. Check-in: Verifies pertinent patient information (demographics, insurance). Enters prescription billing information Locate prescription in workflow and prioritize according to procedure Handling of medications: Assists in counting, pouring, data entry, bagging of prescriptions, under direct supervision of the pharmacist. Enter checks in system and stocks daily order. Monitors refrigerator temperatures Assists with inventor monitoring, ordering and returns Other requirements: Fosters productive and cohesive inter-office work relationships, stocks vials, supplies, etc. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment and waiting area for patients and staff Communicates, monitors, & adheres to all HIPAA regulations, Adheres to all OSHA requirements, Adheres to all Federal and State pharmacy statues Function to trained level in emergency situations Answers phone timely unless actively engage with patient Billing & payments from customers & third party Completes cash and insurance transactions accurately. Figures cost & pricing of prescriptions correctly. Collects payments from patients &/or family members and provides receipts. Supplies and inventory Cleans and maintains supplies in pharmacy. Receives vendor orders; brings orders to pharmacy; signs invoices documenting receipt, checks incoming drugs and stock drugs for current dating. Completes inventories in an accurate and timely manner. Assists with pharmacy compliance to applicable statutory requirements (DEA, Board of Pharmacy) and compliance to accreditation standards (AAAHC). Maintains accurate accounting for drugs obtained and dispensed through patient assistance or other patient friendly programs. Submits reversals as appropriate. Maintains accurate routing of expired drugs to reverse distributor and follows up with proof of disposition and any appropriate credits. Maintains accurate record of drugs returned to wholesaler and follows up with proof of credit. Assists with record-keeping requirements. Supervisory Responsibilities None Work Environment The work environment characteristics are those for a normal provider office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening hours.   Work hours Full-time/part-time, Non-exempt / hourly position.  Generally, a 40-hour work week is required for full-time; part-time as agreed upon by parties; hours are subject to change.  Office hours vary by site, but are usually 8:00am to 7:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  Some Saturdays and after business hours work may be required.  Assigned meetings and travel are a part of the position.
