Job DetailsJob Location: Mary Rutan Health Center - Bellefontaine, OH 43311Position Type: Full-TimeJob Shift: Day (1st Shift)Job Summary -  The therapist is responsible for the evaluation and application of a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with speech and language disorders as well as dysphagia. The therapist demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and disorders of the patients served. The therapist demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data/interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's functional skill requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs. The therapist communicates findings regarding deficit areas to physicians, caregivers, patients families, and the patients themselves. This communication takes the form of written evaluation reports, progress reports, discharge summaries, and verbal communication of information. The therapist participates in performance activities with the department and in CQI studies, as appropriate. The therapist provides information related to departmental budget considerations in relationship to speech pathology needs for optimum patient care and service. The therapist assists in scheduling of patient visits for speech pathology evaluation and treatment and performs administrative duties at the delegation of the Director of Speech Pathology Services. The therapist participates in infection control, safety, and educational programs, both in the department and on an organizational basis.   Regulatory Requirements Holds a Master's degree from an approved college or school of speech-language pathology. Holds current Ohio state licensure in speech-language pathology. Demonstrates knowledge of principles and practice of speech pathology. Performs technical skills related to speech pathology. Holds a current CPR certification.   Language Skills Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills.   Skills Basic computer knowledge. Knowledge of assessments, materials, and equipment utilized in the profession. Ability to maintain control and respond calmly and positively during challenging situations. Advanced telephone communication skills. Qualifications
