Position: Lead Industrial Electrician

Reports to: PLC & Controls Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Overview

The Lead Industrial Electrician is responsible for supporting the reliability and performance of all sawmill electrical systems while providing day-to-day leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to the electrical team. This role ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with production goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead and support electrical maintenance activities, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
Install, maintain, and repair the sawmill electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Provide hands-on troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment, minimizing downtime and production impact.
Assist in prioritizing and coordinating daily work assignments and maintenance activities.
Ensure completion of work orders in a timely and accurate manner.
Perform and support preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
Troubleshoot electrical systems ranging from 24V DC to 480V 3-phase.
Diagnose and repair motor starter circuits, control circuits, and emergency stop (E-stop) systems.
Support and guide team members in troubleshooting PLC-controlled systems, including sensors, photo eyes, proximity switches, and limit switches.
Program, commission, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
Promote and enforce safe work practices, including strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in system reliability, safety, and efficiency.

Qualifications

Strong electrical troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead by example and support team development.
Proficient in industrial electrical systems and controls.
Experience with PLC systems and industrial automation components.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Electrical experience in a manufacturing or sawmill environment preferred.

Additional Requirements

Previous experience in a lead or senior-level electrical role preferred.
Willingness to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
Ability to work scheduled shifts, including overtime as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
Frequent use of hands and fingers for tools and equipment.
Regularly required to communicate effectively.
Work performed around moving mechanical parts, at heights, and in environments with dust, fumes, and airborne particles.
Noise levels range from moderate to very loud.
The ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally and carry up to 20lbs frequently without assistance.
