Position: Operations Support Specialist

Reports to: Planer Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

 

Position Overview: The Operations Support Specialist position will ensure smooth operations by managing machine operations and providing coverage during employee breaks in the sawmill, planer, and/or EWP.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Operate all machinery and equipment required for production, ensuring efficiency and safety standards are met.
  • Monitor machine performance and conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Assist in the setup, calibration, and maintenance of machines as needed.
  • Provide coverage during employee breaks to ensure continuous operation and minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimize production schedules and workflow.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to company policies and safety regulations.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors immediately.
  • Follow stand operating procedures (SOPs) and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Train new employees on machine operations and safety protocols as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in operating all machinery in the sawmill, planer, and/or EWP.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic mechanical issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality control.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules.
