Role Summary
The Forklift Operator is responsible for the accurate moving, locating, and storing of materials, utilizing a forklift or other power-operated equipment.
Key Results Area
- Safe and efficient operation of all power-operated equipment that requires certification
- Safe and efficient movement of the product, including loading and unloading of trucks
- Accurately pick and pack items for shipment, potentially with a forklift
- Label and prepare items for shipment
- Work with inventory control on correct product placement
- Complete required paperwork and project time-tracking documentation
- Maintain warehouse order to ensure pallet locations are kept available for incoming items
- Ensure all items not required in the short term are restocked according to established procedures
- Update the Warehouse Management System (WMS) with the transactions completed
- Perform daily safety checklist and standard battery changing procedures
- Assist with contacting freight couriers to schedule pick-ups and deliveries
- Aid in cycle counting and periodic inventories
- Update supervisor and team lead on issues or concerns
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Support and maintain corporate quality, health and safety standards, processes, policies, and work instructions (ISO standards where applicable)
- All other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous warehouse/manufacturing experience required
- Forklift experience required
- Current forklift certification and/or the ability to become certified within 30 days is required
- Basic math and reading skills
- Must be able to read and understand written and verbal instructions
- Able to pay attention to details to ensure accuracy
- Strong team building skills and able to work well as part of a team
- Able to lift/move up to 40 pounds solo and greater weights in a team-lift environment
- Physically able to lift, carry, bend, stretch, and stand for long periods of time, and able to handle heights
