Position Title: Saw Operator
$18 an hour
6:30am start time 1st shift
Monday - Friday

Performs various administrative and manual tasks to assist the fabrication department in the cutting of material into correct size pieces by operating a contour or manual saw.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Operate saw to cut material according to orders.

Ability to read, write, count, understand measurements, fractions and weight scales. Comprehend and carry through both verbal and written procedures with the ability to record information accurately.

Ability to perform physical labor involving heavy work.

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

Wrap, and bale materials along with any other work activity that might arise.

Keep work area clean and clear of scrap materials.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge – The aptitude to operate machines.

Skill – Ability to read and write, understand measurements and fractions. Ability to physically perform manual labor.

Ability – Learn within a fast-paced environment, work with other employees in a cooperative manner, handle repetitive job duties, and supervise and/or instruct co-workers.

Horizontal and Vertical Saws (Contour, Automatic, and Vertical)

Moveable Powered Conveyors

Steel Mesh Gloves

Working Environment:

The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change. Seasonally, workers may be subject to extreme heat. Temperature above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause a worker to shout in order to be heard above the noise level. The worker is subject to hazards includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts and electrical current.

Physical Activities / Requirements:

Climbing: Frequently. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.

Stooping: Continually. Bending body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist, using the lower extremities and back muscles.

Reaching: Continually. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Standing: Continually. For sustained periods of time.

Walking: Continually. Walking about on foot to accomplish tasks.

Pushing: Continually. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.

Pulling: Continually. Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.

Lifting: Frequently. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.

Grasping: Continually. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

Talking: Frequently. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, conveying detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Hearing: Continually. Perceiving the nature of sounds. The ability to interpret oral communications.

Repetitive Motion: Continually. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, head and/or fingers.

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
