Basic Function and Responsibility:

The Deputy Court Administrator – Circuit / Jury Supervisor serves in an executive-level administrative and managerial capacity in the Office of the Court Administrator for the 16th Judicial Circuit of Missouri.   The position oversees the operational and personnel aspects of jury processes, records departments, and civil process on behalf of the Court.

Appointing Authority and Supervision Received: 

The Court Administrator is the appointing authority and provides general supervision for the position.

Supervision Exercised:

Direct supervision of assigned department directors and general supervision of personnel in the civil, criminal, and probate records departments, as well as the department of civil process and jury services.

Characteristic and Assigned Duties: (The following duties are representative of the position and do not include all duties which may be performed.)

  • Provide support to the Court Administrator, department directors, and court personnel, and the Court upon request.
  • Assist in ensuring all court operations are conducted in a lawful, efficient, and ethical manner.
  • Serve as staff support to court committees as required by the Court Administrator, presiding judge, or Court en banc.
  • Coordinate with judicial divisions to ensure that a sufficient number of jurors are available.
  • Provide recommendations on request for an excuse or deferment of prospective jurors.
  • Make logistical arrangements for sequestered juries.
  • Prepare reports as requested by the Court Administrator or Court en banc.
  • Consult with department directors to resolve problems; interpret policy and procedures from an administrative and managerial perspective, consistent with statutory requirements, local rules, court policy, and supervisory directives.
  • Represent the Court in meetings with the general public, media, and public and private agencies.
  • Perform public relations functions with the general public, in person and by telephone.
  • Speak publicly to groups about the jury selection process.
  • Research and prepare statistics for special projects.
  • Draft operational procedures, guidelines, and orders relative to jury and departmental operations.
  • Prepare a proposed annual budget and manage required financial processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a legal or public administration-related field; an advanced degree is preferred.  Additionally, a minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible management/ administrative experience, inclusive of relevant experience in a court or legal work environment, is required.
