Primary Function

The Front Desk Assistant serves as the first point of contact for students, staff, and guests. This role provides exceptional customer service, manages front desk operations, answers incoming calls, and supports departmental staff with administrative tasks and special projects.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Administrative Support

  • Greet and assist visitors in person and by phone in a professional and courteous manner
  • Distribute incoming mail daily
  • Notify students of class changes
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining book inventory
  • Prepare outgoing mailings as requested
  • Perform general clerical duties such as copying, labeling, and filing documents
  • Support graduation ceremonies by using Namecoach to review, confirm, and assist with correct pronunciation of student names.


Campus Support

  • Run errands and complete tasks around campus as needed
  • Coordinate and deliver science lab supplies and orders to the Science Department in a timely and organized manner.


Other Duties

  • Assist with special projects and other tasks as assigned


Marginal Duties

  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested by supervisor


Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of office experience and/or customer service preferred
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively


Working Conditions

  • Work is typically performed in an office or educational environment
  • Occasional bending, reaching, and light lifting may be required
