What you will do:

 

The CDL Driver (Class A) is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional delivery of materials to customer locations and job sites. This role combines driving responsibilities with hands-on support in loading, unloading, and securing materials. Depending on the business unit, deliveries may include oversized or specialized loads such as building components. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active environment.

 

Safe Transportation & Delivery

  • Safely transport building materials, products, and equipment to customer locations according to established routes and delivery schedules
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT/FMCSA regulations and company policies
  • Plan delivery routes while accounting for traffic, weather, road restrictions, and jobsite accessibility
  • Maintain regular communication with dispatch regarding departure, arrival, delays, route changes, and delivery status
  • Obtain customer signatures, delivery confirmations, and required documentation upon delivery
  • Represent QXO professionally during all customer interactions

 

Loading, Securement & Material Handling

  • Verify load accuracy and inspect materials prior to departure
  • Safely load, secure, and transport materials using proper load securement methods, including straps, chains, binders, and tie-downs as appropriate
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials while following safe lifting and material handling practices
  • Perform touch-freight duties, including lifting, carrying, and moving products as required
  • Verify delivered materials with customers and document discrepancies or damaged products

Customer Service

  • Deliver exceptional customer service during each delivery
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding delivery schedules, product questions, and jobsite requirements
  • Assist customers with unloading and placement of materials when appropriate
  • Notify branch personnel of customer concerns, jobsite issues, or service opportunities

Equipment & Documentation

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional company vehicle
  • Complete inspection reports, delivery documentation, electronic logs, and mobile application updates accurately and on time
  • Utilize GPS, route planning software, mobile applications, and electronic delivery systems effectively
  • Report vehicle maintenance concerns, equipment issues, accidents, or safety incidents immediately

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all DOT/FMCSA regulations and company driving policies
  • Wear required PPE and maintain safe work practices at all times
  • Inspect delivery sites to identify hazards and ensure safe loading and unloading conditions
  • Use spotters when maneuvering in congested or hazardous areas whenever possible
  • Adapt safely to changing weather, road, and jobsite conditions
  • Promote a safety-first culture while protecting company assets and customer property
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

What you will bring:

  • Ability to operate mobile applications, GPS systems, and electronic delivery tools
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid CDL Class A or B license in good standing
  • Minimum 1–2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience preferred
  • Experience operating flatbed trucks, tractor-trailers, manual transmissions, or oversized load vehicles preferred
  • Forklift experience or ability to operate material handling equipment is a plus
  • Experience delivering building materials, construction products, trusses, wall panels, steel, rebar, roofing, or similar products preferred
  • Clean driving record and ability to meet company driving requirements
  • Ability to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background requirements as applicable
  • Primarily field-based with frequent driving throughout assigned service areas
  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, traffic, construction sites, warehouses, and customer facilities
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, and enter or exit commercial vehicles
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to 75 pounds or more using proper lifting techniques
  • Frequent use of load securement equipment, mobile technology, and material handling equipment
  • May require overtime, weekend work, overnight travel, or flexible schedules based on operational needs

What you will earn:

  • Health Insurance: Medical insurance through Aetna with Gold, Silver, and Bronze plan options, including prescription drug coverage.
  • Dental Insurance: Aetna dental coverage with Base, Buy-Up, and DHMO plan options. Preventive care covered at 100%, basic services at 80%, and major services at 50% after deductible.
  • Vision Insurance: Aetna vision plan with $10 exam copay and up to $200 for frames or contact lenses, once every 12 months.
  • Employer-Paid Life & AD&D Insurance: $35,000 benefit through The Standard, with equal AD&D coverage. Voluntary additional coverage available up to $500,000 or 6x annual salary.
  • Employer-Paid Short-Term Disability: 60% of base weekly pay, up to $2,500 per week, after a 14-day waiting period for up to 11 weeks.
  • Employer-Paid Long-Term Disability: 60% of base monthly pay, up to $10,000 per month, after a 90-day waiting period.
  • Health Savings Account (HSA): Available with the Silver medical plan. QXO contributes $500 annually for employee-only coverage or $1,000 for all other coverage levels. 2026 IRS contribution max: $4,400 (individual) / $8,750 (family).
  • Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA): Available with Gold or Bronze medical plans. Contribute up to $3,400 pre-tax in 2026 for eligible out-of-pocket health expenses.
  • Dependent Care Account: Contribute up to $7,500 pre-tax in 2026 for eligible dependent daycare expenses for children under 13 or qualifying dependents.
  • Voluntary Benefits through The Standard: Accident Insurance, Critical Illness Insurance, and Hospital Indemnity Insurance available to supplement health coverage.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - Employer-Paid: Comprehensive support through Health Advocate for employees and dependents, including health advocacy services at no additional cost (1-866-799-2728).
  • Travel Assist - Employer-Paid: TravelConnect through The Standard provides medical emergency assistance when traveling 100+ miles from home, for both business and personal travel.
  • Aetna Wellness Programs - Employer-Paid: A variety of wellness programs available to employees enrolled in any Aetna medical plan.
  • Identity Theft Protection: Allstate ID Theft Protection available, with deductions taken through payroll.
