Job DetailsJob Location: Whatcom Family YMCA - Bellingham, WA 98225Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $20.90 - $31.36 HourlyThe YMCA Early Learning Center at Millworks (located on Bellingham's Waterfront) is currently seeking an Assistant Preschool Teacher to work in our transitional Preschool classroom with children ages 2 1/2 through 3.  This is a full time position and applicants will be working Monday through Friday, 8-4:30.   At the YMCA's Millworks Early Learning Center, we believe that early childhood is a time for curiosity, discovery, and joyful learning. Our mission is to nurture young minds and support families through high-quality, play-based early education rooted in the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Our young preschool classroom is home to 17 children with 2-3 teachers at a time.  This is a busy age group with lots of potty training and hands on activities.  Young preschoolers are learning how to use their words and to develop their newly emerging friendship skills.  This classroom is full of sensory activities, outside time, art, and play.  The Assistant Preschool Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children ages 3–5. You’ll help foster a sense of wonder, facilitate learning through play, and support children’s social, emotional, and physical development. Must be 18 years of age or older and a high school graduate (or equivalent). Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. Be flexible, organized, and have the ability to take direction and learn. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds. Current CPR (Adult, Infant & Child) and First Aid, AED certifications. Complete Praesidium Child Abuse prevention training within 15 days of hire. STARS 30 Hour Childcare Basic Training (Must be completed within 3 months of hire date) Must have or be in the process of obtaining the following: ___ Negative TB Test ___ HIV/Bloodborne Pathogen training ___ Safe Sleep                           ___ MERIT ID account  ___ Food Handlers Card   ___ Cleared Portable Background Check from MERIT ___ MMR Immunization Record        9. Willingness to obtain the ECE initial certificate or equivalent (approximately 12 credits).
