Job DetailsJob Location: Whatcom Family YMCA - Bellingham, WA 98225Position Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $19.13 - $19.13 HourlyPOSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Educate and enforce operational guidelines and regulation of the wellness center with all members. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Create a welcoming, inclusive environment by greeting members, answering questions about Y programs, assisting with lockers, providing tours, and helping members feel confident navigating the wellness center.  Actively monitor the wellness center through continuous floor presence; enforce facility policies, correct unsafe equipment use, manage traffic flow and occupancy, and serve as a visible, approachable point of contact. Provide basic equipment instruction within scope of training, lead scheduled wellness center programming, and encourage safe, effective equipment use. Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing routine cleaning and sanitization, restocking wipes, emptying trash, sweeping floors, wiping equipment, re-racking weights, and resetting machines. Record and track wellness center usage and assist with administrative tasks as assigned. Identify and promptly report equipment issues, hazards, or maintenance needs; place out-of-order signage and communicate concerns to supervisors and maintenance staff. Follow all opening and closing procedures, collaborate with maintenance and membership staff, and assist with monitoring additional spaces such as the gymnasium or group fitness studios as needed. Follow YMCA policies and procedures; respond to emergency situations and follow approved protocol for administering appropriate first aid and activating EMS; complete incident reports and notify supervisors in a timely manner. Attend all staff meetings, in-house training designated by the supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.  Follow organization’s policies and procedures regarding protecting youth from abuse; including screening and selection, training and supervision, and responding to allegations. Follow all mandated reporting procedures. Complete Orientation to Healthy Living at the YMCA; Principles of Health and Wellness at the YMCA and Wellness Center at the YMCA online classes within 10 days of hire.
