Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Director of Formulation to lead our Formulation Sciences function, including Research & Development in Bellmore, New York. This role is responsible for leading formulation development, overseeing the formulary, and building the processes, documentation, and standards that support scalable, compliant pharmaceutical compounding.

The Director of Formulation will partner closely with Pharmacy Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Production, Procurement, IT, and Commercial teams to ensure formulations are safe, stable, scalable, compliant, well-documented, and consistently reproducible.

This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee formulation development across multiple compounded dosage forms, with an emphasis on oral tablets, sublingual tablets, and injectables.
  • Research and develop new formulations and delivery systems to expand Precision Medicine’s therapeutic portfolio.
  • Own and standardize the company’s formulary, formulation documentation, SOPs, and master batch records to ensure scalable, compliant, and reproducible compounding.
  • Partner with Pharmacy Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Production, Procurement, IT, and Commercial teams to support formulation development and commercialization.
  • Provide technical leadership for formulation strategy, troubleshooting, process improvement, formulation scale-up, and formulation-related changes.
  • Foster a culture of scientific excellence, quality, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • PharmD, Master’s, or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field. A Bachelor’s degree with significant directly related experience may also be considered.
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical formulation, compounding, product development, or related experience.
  • Experience developing and optimizing compounded or pharmaceutical formulations across multiple dosage forms, with a strong understanding of formulation science, excipient selection, stability, compatibility, and applicable USP <795>, USP <797>, and USP <800> standards.
  • Experience with formulation documentation, QMS, SOPs, and master batch records.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with a structured, process-driven approach to formulation development and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Pharmacist in New York and/or Florida, or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Experience within a 503A, 503B, specialty pharmacy, or pharmaceutical compounding environment.
  • Experience developing formulations across sterile, oral, topical, injectable, or other compounded dosage forms.
  • Experience with peptide formulations, longevity therapies, product commercialization, or formulation scale-up.
  • Highly organized and process-driven with experience building standardized formulation systems.
