French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Staff Engineer for our Bridge Department in Wall, NJ. 


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the analysis, design, and evaluation of bridge structures and structural components.

  • Prepare design calculations, technical reports, and engineering drawings in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.

  • Support the development of contract documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

  • Conduct field inspections, site visits, and condition assessments under supervision.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams, including structural, geotechnical, civil, and transportation engineers.

  • Perform engineering modeling and analysis using industry-standard software (e.g., STAAD, SAP2000, MIDAS, or similar).

  • Assist with the preparation of proposals, presentations, and project deliverables.

  • Maintain organized documentation and ensure project tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred.

  • 0–2 years of relevant internship or professional experience in bridge or structural engineering.

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months preferred.

  • Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and structural engineering principles.

  • Proficiency with engineering software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a project team.

Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is $70,000 to $77,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
