SUMMARY
The Accounts Payable / Receivable employee is a key role that maintains financial records and assists with general day to day tasks within the accounting department. The position will be primarily responsible for computing, classifying, and recording expenditures and revenue data to keep the company’s financial records complete. This role will provide financial accounting and clerical support to the department. This person will perform a variety of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Match A/P invoices with packing slips and post to business system
Verify pricing on invoices
Sort packing slips.
Respond to questions from vendors
Process checks
File paid invoices
Close A/P monthly
Apply for credit on new vendors
Post cash receipts from customers to business system
Work with customers on payments to ensure payments within terms
Help with inventory cycle counting
Back up receptionist. (Answer phone and door)
Reconcile bank account
Maintain petty cash
Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma plus 1-3 years experience in a related accounting field.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest, commissions, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
