Position Title: Continuous Improvement Quality Engineering Intern

 

Fairbanks Morse Defense is seeking highly motivated Interns to join our team. As an Intern, you will be taking on impactful work, while engaging in dynamic learning experiences and working as a valued member of our team.

 

General internship requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Sponsorship for employment visas is not available for this job opening.
  • Must be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited to, reference verification, post-offer drug testing, and background check
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Must have access to reliable transportation

 

What projects will this intern work on?

  1. Certification Review – while performing incoming quality control activities, you will learn a great deal about the nature of parts used to construct a large diesel engine, metal grades and the specification that control them, and fundamentals of how to ensure purchased parts will perform as needed.
  2. Engine Birth Records – collect and assemble documents to form a cohesive record of the pedigree of parts used to assemble an engine. Improve, streamline, and automate birth record genesis. Maintain and update templates and data  tools used to capture critical data throughout the build process.
  3. Nonconformance Disposition – learn how to respond to real world manufacturing variation scenarios. Where specification deviations occur, determine a technically sound course of action for the nonconforming items.

  • Working hours as agreed and giving advance notice of any necessary schedule changes
  • Adherence to dress code, which is casual but appropriate for an office environment
