Overview

Medical Record Specialist to assist with Maintaining medical record integrity through filing, assembling, analysis and retrieving confidential patient records.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

路 Prepare and assemble medical records.

路 Organize and analyze medical records for accuracy and completeness.

路 Identify, track and enter practitioner deficiencies in Medhost.

路 Pull charts as requested for audits, peer review, readmissions, HBIPS processing and route to appropriate area or department.

路 Ensure files are stored in the designated area according to storage procedures.

路 Maintain and search computerized medical records.

路 Maintain chart control, access and storage in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations.

路 Process medical records requests according to policy and procedure.

路 Scan records to contract coders for processing, when applicable.

路 Assist with HIM department audits including HBIPS, CMS Quality Measures, and concurrent reviews.

路 Pick up discharge records from patient units.

路 Assemble new admission folders, if applicable.

路 Print and deliver medical records forms to patient units.

路 Search and print dictated reports from computerized transcription system.

路 Purge and inventory medical records for off-site storage.

路 Promotes quality improvement, staff and patient safety, and cultural diversity through department operations and by personal performance.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

路 High School diploma or equivalent required.

路 Three or more years' experience in psychiatric setting or combination of education and experience necessary.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

路 RHIT or RHIA preferred.
