Position Summary
The Pipefitter / Plumbing Foreman is responsible for supervising field crews and overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial plumbing and piping systems. This includes underground, above-ground, and building systems for heating, cooling, domestic water, waste, storm, and specialty piping. The Foreman partners closely with Project Management to ensure quality, productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Essential Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and direct pipefitting and plumbing crews on active job sites
- Layout, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems for:
- Domestic water, sanitary, storm, and roof drainage systems
- Heating and cooling water systems
- Steam, gas, specialty, and process piping
- Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, specifications, and shop drawings
- Perform and oversee:
- Underground and above-ground piping installations
- Fixture rough-ins and final installations (toilets, urinals, sinks, floor drains, carriers, water heaters, etc.)
- Installation of materials including PVC, cast iron, copper, steel, and specialty piping
- Plan work activities and crew assignments to meet schedule and budget expectations
- Coordinate material takeoffs, labor planning, and equipment needs
- Accurately track labor, material usage, and production; complete daily reports and documentation
- Inspect work in progress and completed installations to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and quality standards
- Communicate job status, issues, and updates to Project Managers and Superintendents
- Identify and resolve job-site challenges, construction conflicts, and installation issues
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements; conduct safety meetings and inspections
- Train, mentor, and develop crew members to promote a safe, productive, and professional work environment
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of commercial pipefitting and/or plumbing experience
- 3+ years in a Foreman or lead supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing and piping systems
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications
- Experience projecting labor and material needs
- Journeyman or Master Plumbing License (preferred)
- Trade school diploma or completed apprenticeship (preferred)
- Formal foreman or leadership training (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
