Summary

The scope of work for a Respiratory Therapist includes assessment, therapeutic intervention and education for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders or associated complications.

Job Description

What you will do:

-          Assess patients to prevent, detect, monitor and manage disease and complications.

-          Measure patient's lung capacity to determine if there are any impairments.

-          Offer diagnosis results and treatment suggestions based on the analysis of the patient.

Qualifications

Must be a registry eligible graduate of an approved program of Respiratory Care. Must fulfill annual continuing education requirements of the department. Must complete orientations, competency validations, and other in-services as required by the department.



Unofficial transcripts from an approved school and a letter from the Program Director required prior to employment. Must obtain/have the Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential per state licensure requirements. Must obtain the Registered Respiratory Therapist credential within six months of hire. Must maintain a valid or Temporary Permit to practice in Respiratory Care in state(s) of practice. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. Must obtain site specific specialty credential(s) such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), etc.
