Job Summary:

Produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; prepare materials for machines; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies; maintain shop cleanliness and scrap material bins.


Schedule:
First Shift: 6am-2:30pm Mon-Fri.

Second Shift: 2:15pm-12:45am Mon-Thurs., Occasional Friday work may be required during periods of mandatory overtime.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare materials for use within the department using automated saws, chop saws and vibratory machines.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness using standard cleaning practices.
  • Handle and transport scrap materials to discard and recycle bin in various locations.
  • Sets-up mills and lathes by installing tools, attachments and collets; indicating vices.
  • Ability to machine production parts on CNC machines.
  • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and threading; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing up and working on your feet.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50+ pounds at times.
