School Crossing Guard

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists children and parents in safely crossing streets on the way to and from school in the morning and afternoon.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Holds stop sign, stopping motorists so children and parents may cross streets.
• Warns children not to cross until the proper time.
• Guides children and parents across the street.
• Maintains positive relationships with students, parents and school staff; models appropriate adult behavior.
• Report reckless drivers to police department.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

• Ability to stand and walk for extended amount of time.
• Ability to elevate and hold stop sign.
• Ability to identify and use appropriate traffic warning signals.
• Ability to drive a vehicle to and from various worksites.
• Exposed to variable and possibly extreme weather conditions while on duty.
