DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Echocardiography department provides licensed Technologists at all four St. Charles Hospitals as well as Echocardiography services at our St. Charles Medical Group clinics. These Technologists provide Echocardiography services 24/7 for the diagnosis and treatment of patients in the Echo Lab, OR, ER, Cath Lab, and all patient care floors throughout the hospitals. As part of our community outreach these Technologists provide Echocardiography services to our partner hospitals throughout Eastern Oregon.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Echo Technologist Trainee at St. Charles Health System performs all Echo studies and related procedures at a technical level requiring indirect supervision in accordance with established department, hospital, and affiliated college program guidelines. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Performs Echo examinations in accordance with department policies, procedures, and protocols within the scope of their echocardiography training program under indirect supervision.
Follows health and safety policies and procedures of quality patient care.
Assists in record maintenance and statistics as requested.
Completes externship requirements as outlined by affiliated college Echocardiography training program.

EDUCATION:
Required: High school diploma or GED. Must be a student in good standing of the affiliated college Echo training program.

Required: OBMI Temporary Licensure.

Required: Affiliated college Echo training program pre-externship requirements completed prior to start of St. Charles Health System externship.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Continually (75% or more): Standing and walking, keyboard operation, use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level.
Frequently (50%): Sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 1-25 pounds. The use and operation of a motor vehicle for Home Health and Wound Caregivers.
Occasionally (25%): Bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing ladder/step-stool (varies by area), reaching overhead, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 25-50 pounds, grasping/squeezing, ability to hear whispered speech level.
