Job DetailsJob Location: DGLC - BENSENVILLE, IL 60106Position Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $15.00 - $15.00 HourlyA Preschool Substitute Teacher supports the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment for preschool-aged children. This role includes assisting with classroom activities, following lesson plans and daily routines, and supporting children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through hands-on, play-based learning. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic, flexible, and dedicated to creating a positive experience for young learners. DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS   Follow established lesson plans, classroom routines, and activities for preschool-aged children. Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all students. Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being. Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through play-based and structured activities. Assist with daily routines, including arrival, dismissal, meals, restroom breaks, transitions, and cleanup. Promote positive behavior and assist with conflict resolution among students. Communicate important information regarding children’s needs or incidents to the Lead Instructor or Recreation Supervisor. Maintain classroom cleanliness and follow all health and safety procedures. Assist with creative arts, music, movement, and other classroom activities as directed. Work collaboratively with classroom staff to support a positive and engaging learning experience. Other duties as assigned by supervisor Qualifications Associate’s degree in early childhood education or related field – preferred  Knowledge of child development and educational best practices   Ability to create age-appropriate lesson plans and learning activities   Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with children   Experience working with children 2-5 Ability to communicate and interact effectively with children, parents, and staff Ability to solve problems as they arise Must be dependable, energetic, and have a positive attitude Ability to enforce Park District rules and safety practices  Certified in CPR/AED and First Aid is required  JOB STATUS         Part time                             DEPARTMENT      Recreation         FSLA STATUS                               Non-Exempt SALARY                 $15.00 per hour HOURS                  Hours vary based on program needs and are scheduled only on days when a substitute is needed. Typical hours may fall between 8:00am–3:30pm, with additional hours as needed.
