As a valued member of our surgical services team, the Pre-Anesthesia Evaluation Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in ensuring patients are thoroughly assessed and prepared for a safe and successful surgical experience. Working collaboratively with physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary care teams. You’ll evaluate patients prior to surgery, reviews medical histories, identifies potential risks, and helps optimize patients for anesthesia. In addition to conducting comprehensive pre-anesthesia assessments, the nurse provides direct patient care using the nursing process and in accordance with applicable standards of practice and scope of licensure. Reporting to the Department Manager or Director, this role combines clinical expertise, patient advocacy, and teamwork to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while helping create a positive experience for patients and their families from the very beginning of their surgical journey.

 

How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse who excels in this role:

  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.

  • Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with care team, physician, patient, and family.

  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

  • Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.

  • Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.

  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.

  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state or compact state RN license and possess an associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • Certifications: BLS Required 

  • Licenses: Must have a current state or compact state RN license.

  • Education: Associate's degree required. BSN preferred.

  • Previous clinical experience in critical care, emergency nursing, or perioperative care requried
