Position Summary...

Senior Manager, Tax – Real Estate
Location: Bentonville, AR

This Senior Manager, Tax – Real Estate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of locations and drive accurate valuations of all real property. As part of the Real Estate Property Tax team, you will have the opportunity to learn and grow in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

What you'll do...

  • Managing the implementation of complex tax activities and initiatives for Property Tax to ensure compliance and efficiency by collaborating with subject matter experts to maintain and align compliance policies with tax laws and regulations.
  • Attending meetings and assessment hearings on behalf of the tax department and representing areas of interest
  • Managing an assigned property tax portfolio to ensure compliance with real property ad valorem filings, audits, bill payments, and tax planning. 
  • Executing overall real property tax administration and appeal strategy for assigned states by compiling data and reports as needed to assist with development of appeal presentations for hearings and for internal analysis of appeal opportunities. 
  • Reviewing property assessments and notices with state and local tax assessing authorities independently or with 3rd party consultants in various states for appeal opportunities. 
  • Performing independent Income/Expense, Market & Cost valuation analysis to determine if assessments are equitable. 
  • Proficiency in leading and directing 3rd party consultants and attorneys to provide critical technical guidance in property valuations, appeals, and litigation using an in-depth knowledge of relevant statues, court decisions, real estate appraisal techniques, and local customs and practices. 
  • Being able to effectively engage state and local tax assessing authorities independently or with 3rd party consultants on valuation matters. 
  • Reviewing and approving property assessments, tax bills and preparing property tax budgets. 
  • Researching and respond to various administrative matters involving property assessments and taxation.
  • Assisting the Team in establishing controls to ensure cost effectiveness in appeals and maximize corporate goals and objectives.

What you’ll bring:
  • You have a Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Real Estate, Business Management or another degree with MBA, MST or JD
  • You have 6-10+ years of property tax-related experience
  • You have technical experience with Real Estate valuation, excel, CoStar, and or Itam
  • You have experience problem solving and handling difficult complex challenges and evaluating options and implementing effective solutions
