We are looking for an Estimator to prepare accurate bids for commercial construction projects in a multi-trade subcontractor environment, with direct ownership of takeoffs, scope review, pricing, and proposal development. This role will focus on drywall, acoustical, flooring, and metal framing work and requires a strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, materials, and project processes. The Estimator will work closely with project management, vendors, subcontractors, and customers to develop complete and competitive estimates. This is a hands-on estimating position for a candidate with 3–5 years of relevant estimating or project management experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates for commercial drywall, acoustical, flooring, and metal framing projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and estimating requirements.
- Perform accurate material and labor takeoffs and develop project pricing.
- Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing to support competitive bids.
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, material requirements, and potential project risks before bid submission.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to ensure estimates accurately reflect project requirements.
- Work with project management and field teams to clarify scope, constructability, and project requirements.
- Maintain organized bid documentation, pricing information, and estimate records using construction or project management software.
- Communicate with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve scope and pricing questions.
- 3–5 years of estimating or project management experience within commercial drywall, acoustical, flooring, or metal framing construction.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Building Construction, Mathematics, or a related field strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of the drywall and metal framing construction industry and the overall commercial building process.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and perform accurate mathematical takeoffs.
- Experience with construction estimating or project management software preferred.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Direct commercial interior trade experience required; residential-only estimating experience will not be sufficient.
