What you'll do...

Role summary:
As a Software Engineer III at Walmart, you will lead the design and development of scalable software solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams including product management and user experience. You will manage complex projects, troubleshoot production issues, and implement sustainable technical solutions while ensuring quality and security standards. This role involves mentoring small engineering groups, driving continuous improvement, and supporting business needs through effective problem-solving and technical expertise. Your contributions will directly impact Walmart’s technology landscape and operational excellence.

The Merch Space Features team focuses on enhancing product availability across stores to support sales growth, competitive pricing, and improved assortment through targeted promotions. Collaborating with cross-functional partners, the team delivers solutions aligned with business objectives. Members apply strong technical expertise and strategic thinking to develop innovative features, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence. Their commitment to quality and collaboration ensures effective delivery of impactful software solutions that advance Walmart’s retail goals in a dynamic environment.
What you'll do:
  • Collaborate with product, project, business, and user experience teams to define high-level design and technical solutions for projects.
  • Develop, test, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-quality code following coding standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production and business issues through root cause analysis and coordinated action plans.
  • Lead small to medium-sized projects by translating requirements into technical deliverables and ensuring timely completion.
  • Support continuous integration and delivery by automating routine tasks and implementing telemetry features.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical direction and documentation.
  • Monitor application performance and implement maintenance and improvements to ensure reliability.

What you'll bring:
  • Proven expertise in object-oriented programming and Java, with strong technical acumen in platform design and API development.
  • Proven expertise in frontend programming with React and React Native
  • Experience in iterative and incremental development, including continuous integration and delivery practices.
  • Ability to analyze and translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable software solutions.
  • Skilled in debugging, defect management, and root cause analysis to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Familiarity with documentation-based coding and test case creation to support robust software testing.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead small engineering teams and collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Knowledge of generative artificial intelligence and component services is a plus.
