Overview

VPCH, the State of Vermont's only state run psychiatric hospital, operates 24/7 to serve some of Vermont's most vulnerable residents. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and serving on the Executive Leadership Team, the Hospital Operations Director leads critical non clinical operations and helps shape and execute hospital strategy to ensure safe, reliable, and high quality services. We are seeking a strategic, critical thinker who excels at problem solving, anticipates risks, and drives data informed decisions in a complex, fast paced environment.
In this role, you will:
•    Oversee core operational domains, including Dietary Services, Emergency Operations, Facilities Management, and Public Procurement and Contracting.
•    Serve as the primary liaison with the Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) and the Agency of Digital Services (ADS) to support maintenance, custodial, security, and information technology operations.
•    Lead and support project management for key initiatives that advance hospital performance, readiness, and resilience.
•    Perform essential administrative, planning, and analytical work to support departmental goals and major operational activities.
•    Collaborate closely with VPCH leaders, staff across the Department of Mental Health (DMH) and the Agency of Human Services (AHS), and other State of Vermont (SOV) partner agencies.

Environmental Factors

Work in office-based setting with frequent tours of hospital units.  Contact with patients is expected in the performance of duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in health administration, business administration or related finance/management field, public administration, public health or mental health related field AND one (1) year of managerial and/or operations experience.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in health administration, business administration or related finance/management field, public administration, public health, or mental health related field AND three (3) years of managerial and/or operations experience. 
OR
Seven (7) years of managerial and/or operations experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

Project management experience
Proven track record in hospital or facilities operations
Certification in Facilities Operations (e.g., Certified Healthcare Facility Manager, Certified Operations Manager, etc)
