Supported Employment Specialist – Full Time

Location: Berlin Maryland area (Worcester County)

Salary Range: $40,000-$55,000 annually

Schedule: 4-day, 36-hour work week- Monday through Thursday

 

Position Summary

 

The Supported Employment Specialist assists members with finding gainful competitive employment or volunteer opportunities in the community. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Maintain total confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA law, CARF accreditation standards and Maryland State Regulations. 
  • Using electronic medical records, input data and following through seeing services to their completion. 
  • Develop employment opportunities for members through direct solicitation of employers for individual positions. 
  • Complete vocational intake and orientation to newly recruited members. Assess readiness and employment skills; provide training for employment.
  • Serve as a liaison to the business community and helping agencies; advocate for people recovering from severe mental illness as employees.
  • Maintain awareness of advances in the vocational field. 
  • Attend all staff meetings and in-house trainings as requested.
  • Keep records, provide reports, and maintain data as required by the Division of Rehabilitation Services, Mental Health Administration, or other regulatory agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vocational Director.

Qualifications

 

  • Personal stability, flexibility, energy, and commitment to working with people recovering from severe mental illness.
  • Current CPR and First Aid; 
  • Full valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High School diploma and 2 years’ experience working with mentally ill adults. Supported employment experience required.
  • Familiarity with the psychosocial and vocational rehabilitation process.

 

Authority 

Position reports to the Supported Employment Director, who will approve schedules and provide supervision.
