OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE OF YOUR ROLE

Coaching remains central to your role — you continue delivering lessons, sessions and hosting duties as an active coach, while taking on day-to-day leadership across Surf Operations, supporting the Surf Instructor Manager with scheduling, oversight and mentoring.

You're the eyes and ears on the ground — keeping sessions on time and well delivered, guests well looked after, the site tidy, and newer instructors supported. You take initiative and resolve day-to-day issues directly rather than waiting for escalation.

You lead by example — the same coaching, professionalism and guest care expected of every instructor, with the added responsibility of helping the wider team deliver it consistently.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

•      Deliver lessons, sessions and hosting duties across the full product range, remaining an active, high-standard coach

•      Support the Surf Instructor Manager with day-to-day scheduling and staffing allocation

•      Oversee daily coaching operations, acting as the first point of contact on the ground for instructors and guests

•      Maintain a visible presence across the site, keeping an eye on session timing, delivery quality and guest satisfaction

•      Resolve day-to-day issues directly, escalating to the Surf Instructor Manager only where needed

•      Keep training areas, equipment and facilities tidy, organised and to standard

•      Mentor and support less experienced instructors — shadowing, feedback and hands-on skill development

•      Deliver internal training and contribute to instructor assessments and product sign-offs (Coach Leveling System)

•      Organise and lead team briefings

•      Maintain and help improve SOPs and coaching standards

•      Recommend product sign-offs and promotions to the Surf Instructor Manager

•      Uphold and model Bahrain Surf Park's values and professional standards

Qualifications

•      Valid surf instructor certification (ISA Level 1 or national equivalent required; higher levels preferred)

•      Valid First Aid and Surf Rescue certification (ILS, SLSGB, SLSA or equivalent)

•      Signed off at Coach III level (or actively working towards it) across Bahrain Surf Park's full product range

Experience

•      Proven experience as a surf coach or instructor, ideally at Bahrain Surf Park or a similar wave pool or surf school

•      Experience mentoring, training or supervising other instructors or staff

•      Experience coordinating schedules or day-to-day operations is a strong plus

•      Experience in a leisure resort, surf resort or hospitality setting is a plus

•      Highly organised, able to manage scheduling and competing priorities across a busy day

•      Confident making decisions and taking initiative under pressure

•      Excellent communication with both instructors and management

•      Tact and discretion in dealing with visitors, colleagues and instructors alike

Personal Qualities

•      A natural role model — leads by example in energy, professionalism and guest care

•      Comfortable taking ownership and initiative without waiting to be asked

•      Committed to early mornings, later nights, weekends and holidays when the site is busiest

•      Fluent English is required (B2 minimum), Arabic a plus (highly desirable)

•      Physically fit, safety-conscious, and able to stay focused across a full site, not just one session
