The Systems Engineer II will help verify our propulsion systems are designed and perform as necessary to meet our customers’ needs. This role will be responsible for requirements development, internal design team and external customer alignment, verification and qualification planning, with a heavy focus on traceability and Model Based Systems Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the leads of all major programs in defining, validating, and maintaining requirements
- Build system-level qualification plans for Solid Rocket Motors (SRMs)
- Track requirement verification status through product development and qualification
- Review test and analysis plans and reports to assist with confirmation that requirements are met
- Support system-level risk analysis and mitigation; own and carry to closure all system-level risks
- Establish and maintain linkage between different types of systems engineering deliverables and the cross-functional teams to ensure traceability
- Develop Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models of SRM systems and MBSE methodologies for the internal team
- Communicate with management and customers on requirement compliance at program reviews
- Integrate internal systems engineering models into customer-provided models and frameworks
- Create, manage, and train system engineering tools and processes
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Aerospace, Systems or Mechanical Engineering (or other related technical subject area)
- 2+ years experience applying aerospace systems engineering processes – design reviews, requirements validation and verification, failure and risk assessments
- Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama
- Experience with MBSE and Cameo
- Demonstrated organization skills
- Ability to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships
- Ability to interpret and influence engineering drawings, specifications, system requirements and test data
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, interfacing with internal/external customers
- Demonstrated ability to break down complex problems, strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced development environment
- This position requires that the employee be eligible and maintain eligibility for a Secret Clearance
Desired Experience
- Familiarity with government and DoD contracts and specifications
- Technical knowledge of rocket motor components and processes
- SRM or other propulsion system design, development, or test
Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $97,000 - $121,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. What we can’t quantify for you are the exciting challenges, supportive team, and amazing culture we enjoy.
