Job Summary:Â
Second Shift: Monday - Friday from 2:30PM - 11:00PM
Third Shift: Sunday - Thursday from 10:00PM - 7:00AM
The Refrigeration Technician Lead will provide leadership and advanced technical support within the refrigeration department. This role is responsible for coordinating daily workflow, supporting team members, and ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant operation of all refrigeration systems. The Lead Technician will serve as a key resource for troubleshooting, decision-making, and communication between the refrigeration team and management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Â
- Coordinate daily maintenance activities and ensure accurate documentation of logs, inspections, and system performance.
- Monitor refrigeration system efficiency and proactively identify issues, recommending or implementing corrective actions.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical support to refrigeration technicians and maintenance staff.
- Serve as the primary responder for complex troubleshooting and plant service calls, ensuring timely resolution.
- Assist in planning, prioritizing, and delegating work assignments to meet production and maintenance needs.
- Lead by example in safety practices, adherence to SOPs, and compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Support department leadership during audits, inspections, and emergency situations.
- Availability to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime based on operational needs.
Qualifications and Demands:
- RETA certification or willingness to complete training (internal experience strongly valued).
- Working knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems, electrical controls, and PLC operations preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including Word & Excel, and the ability to complete reports and documentation with accuracy.
- Ability to guide coworkers, manage shifting priorities, and maintain a calm, solutions-focused approach.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and work in hot and cold conditions.
- Must own necessary hand tools.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- A minimum of five years of related experience in industrial maintenance or refrigeration; internal candidates with demonstrated proficiency and leadership capability are strongly encouraged.
