Bell & Evans is looking for a Refrigeration Technician - 4 to join our Maintenance team. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing refrigeration systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.

Industrial ammonia refrigeration experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate on our industrial ammonia refrigeration systems and support you in obtaining RETA certification.

What You'll Do

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, adjustments, and troubleshooting of refrigeration systems.
  • Monitor refrigeration systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Maintain accurate daily maintenance records and system logs.
  • Respond promptly to plant service calls and perform repairs with limited supervision.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues related to refrigeration equipment.
  • Read and follow safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance procedures, and technical manuals.
  • Communicate equipment issues, trends, and concerns to the supervisor or department lead.
  • Work with other maintenance team members and departments to resolve equipment issues.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and promote good housekeeping practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance methods, reduce waste, and control operating costs.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and food safety standards.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience and/or equivalent training, preferably in industrial refrigeration.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems.
  • Industrial ammonia refrigeration experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, safety rules, and maintenance instructions.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and follow direction from management and department leads.
  • Willingness to accept constructive feedback and continuously develop technical skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must provide and maintain your own hand tools.
  • Must be willing to complete training for RETA certification.
  • 24-hour Hazmat training is a plus.
  • Knowledge of electrical motor controls or PLCs is beneficial.

Physical & Work Environment

This is an active industrial maintenance position. The Refrigeration Technician must be comfortable working in a variety of conditions, including:

  • Cold and hot environments
  • Wet and/or humid conditions
  • Noisy areas where hearing protection is required
  • Areas near moving mechanical equipment
  • Elevated or precarious work areas
  • Areas with electrical hazards and vibration

The position requires frequent standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Employees may occasionally need to lift or move up to 50 pounds and must regularly be able to lift or move more than 100 pounds.
