About the Role:

Skillforce is seeking several Environmental Technicians to support cleanup efforts in the Bethesda, MD area. The critical objective is to remove soil in areas that occurred during the sewage overflow. These actions are vital to mitigate any public health crisis and prevent further environmental damage. 

Pay and Schedule: 

$ 31.79 per hour 

Monday through Friday, 10 hour shifts

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid HAZWOPR 40 Certification.
  • Hepatitis A & B vaccination (or willingness to get them)
  • Experience with water sampling, air monitoring, soil sampling, and groundwater sampling techniques.
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste handling and environmental compliance regulations.
  • Ability to work safely in field environments and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as an Environmental Technician or related professional credential.
  • Experience with underground storage tank inspections and solid waste management.
  • Familiarity with environmental data management software and geographic information systems (GIS).
  • Previous experience working on environmental remediation or compliance projects.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various field sites within the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect water, air, soil, and groundwater samples following established protocols and safety procedures.
  • Perform air monitoring and hazardous waste assessments to detect and evaluate environmental contaminants.
  • Inspect and maintain underground storage tanks and solid waste management sites to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Document field activities, maintain accurate logs, and prepare detailed technical reports for regulatory agencies and project stakeholders.
  • Assist in environmental compliance audits and support remediation and cleanup projects as directed by environmental engineers or project managers.
