POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled IT Operations Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and deliver IT operations projects for a large federal program. This role manages cross-functional teams through the full project lifecycle, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence, and stakeholder alignment across service delivery, infrastructure, and operations initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and manage IT operations projects from initiation through closeout, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and communications management
- Develop and maintain project artifacts: charters, work breakdown structures, integrated master schedules, risk registers, and status reports
- Facilitate weekly project reviews, steering committee briefings, and stakeholder communications with federal program offices
- Coordinate across IT operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and service desk teams to resolve dependencies and remove blockers
- Track project milestones, deliverable completion, and KPIs; escalate issues in accordance with the program's governance framework
- Support Agile and hybrid delivery models; facilitate sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog grooming as needed
- Maintain compliance with federal IT project management standards and the program's quality management system
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field
- 7+ years of project management experience, with 4+ years in federal IT programs
- PMP certification (active and in good standing)
- Demonstrated experience managing IT operations, infrastructure, or service delivery projects
- Proficiency with project management tools: MS Project, Jira, or Confluence
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience preparing executive-level briefings
Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust background investigation (MBI or HBI). U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- ITIL 4 Foundation certification
- Agile/SAFe certification (PMI-ACP, SAFe Agilist)
- Experience supporting NIH, HHS, or federal research IT programs
- Familiarity with federal acquisition and performance monitoring requirements
