GiaCare Inc. is currently accepting applications from experienced Registered Nurses to provide Clinical Internal Medicine services at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

About the Opportunity

Join a multidisciplinary healthcare team providing comprehensive nursing care to military service members, their families, retirees, and other eligible beneficiaries. The Clinical Internal Medicine RN will care for patients presenting with routine and complex acute and chronic conditions while supporting patient assessment, triage, treatment, education, care coordination, and clinical operations.

This is a full-time position requiring flexibility to work varied shifts based on departmental and patient-care needs.

Compensation

  • $59.61 per hour
  • $2.00 per hour night-shift differential
  • $1.00 per hour weekend differential
  • Up to $100 per month transportation allowance

Benefits

  • 80 hours of paid time off annually
  • 56 hours of paid sick leave annually

Schedule

  • Full-time, up to 40 hours per week
  • Shifts may be 8, 10, or 12 hours in length
  • Varied shifts may be scheduled during a 24-hour period
  • Must be available for weekdays, weekends, and federal holidays based on departmental requirements
  • Occasional extension of duty hours may be required to complete scheduled patient treatment or respond to clinical emergencies
  • Monthly schedules are established by the department

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive professional nursing care to beneficiaries presenting with routine, complex, acute, and chronic medical conditions.
  • Assess patients and identify individualized nursing and healthcare needs.
  • Apply evidence-based practices and the nursing process when making clinical decisions.
  • Screen and triage patients by telephone, secure messaging, or face-to-face encounters using approved clinical protocols.
  • Determine and document appropriate patient disposition, including emergency care, urgent care, primary-care follow-up, or home care.
  • Assist providers during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment plans, wellness, disease management, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Coordinate care across the healthcare continuum to promote quality, cost-effective patient outcomes.
  • Support case management, utilization management, disease management, and care-coordination activities.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records, coding, nursing notes, and treatment documentation.
  • Follow all applicable nursing standards, infection-control requirements, patient-safety practices, HIPAA guidelines, and military treatment facility policies.
  • Participate in staff orientation, training, committees, quality-improvement initiatives, and medical-readiness activities.
  • Maintain clinical equipment, supplies, medications, and a clean and safe working environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of a nationally accredited Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
  • Current, active, valid, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Minimum of three years of full-time nursing experience.
  • At least two years of nursing experience completed within the most recent three calendar years.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
