Part-Time Industrial Skills Instructor

Responsible for instructing adult participants in short-term training programs and should have experience in a range of industrial roles, which could include industrial maintenance, electric, PLCs, electric motor controls, blueprint reading, shop math, measurement, safety, mechanical fabrication and pneumatics, welding, or machine knowledge/repair.

 

Primary Duties:

Instruction:

  • Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction to workforce students in industrial skills and the use of relevant tools/equipment

  • Manage online learning activities and maintain student attendance records.

  • Provide career mentorship to provide students with in-demand skills in industry.

Curriculum Development:

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure curriculum aligns with current industry standards, career paths, and emerging technologies/techniques.

  • Develop lesson plans and participate in evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives.    

  • Identify required supplies/materials/equipment for classes, and work with staff to procure them.

Course Structure:

  • Daytime career training classes cover theory, online, and hands-on in a lab/classroom setting.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: An associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university is required.  

  • A minimum of 4 years in industrial maintenance or another industrial field, which could include electrical, welding, automation, mechanical, machining, and/or experience in manufacturing education.

  • Ability to mentor students on employability skills such as teamwork, professional work behaviors, and troubleshooting.  

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students and staff and to effectively coach individuals with a range of industry experience.

  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office.  

  • Adult teaching experience preferred; familiarity with facilities maintenance and/or curriculum development a plus.
