POSITION SUMMARY: Moravian University invites applications for part-time adjunct teaching positions in the Fall 2026 term. Available courses are designed to prepare future educators with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to support elementary students in developing their mathematical thinking.

While this position is intended to cover the Fall 2026 semester, it may also lead to longer-term adjunct opportunities to meet ongoing departmental needs. Recognizing that one semester can feel too short for those seeking sustained adjunct work, the department aims to build a pool of reliable adjunct faculty, ensuring more even course allocation and continuity for both instructors and students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach assigned undergraduate education courses using effective, research-based instructional strategies.
  • Design and deliver engaging lessons that integrate theory, practice, and field-based application.
  • Support students in completing required field experiences to ensure alignment with course objectives and program standards.
  • Incorporate current mathematics research, evidence- based practices, and technology into instruction.
  • Assess student learning through a variety of methods and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, grades, and fieldwork documentation.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with students, program faculty, and field placement partners.
  • Ensure compliance with program prerequisites, GPA requirements, and state-mandated clearances.
  • Demonstrate expertise in elementary mathematics instruction and/or training of teachers in mathematics instruction.
  • Contribute to a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that prepares students to work with diverse learners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics Education, or a closely related field, required; doctorate preferred.
  • Current teaching certification in Early Childhood, Elementary, or Math Specialist preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of successful PK–12 classroom teaching experience in Elementary Mathematics Instruction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of elementary mathematics skill development
  • Experience supervising or mentoring teacher candidates in field or clinical settings preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills to support collaboration with students, faculty, and school partners.
  • Commitment to inclusive excellence and the ability to work effectively with diverse learners.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology and digital tools to enhance instruction.
  • Ability to meet fieldwork supervision requirements, including completion of all necessary clearances.
  • Evidence of effective teaching at the college/university level preferred.
