POSITION SUMMARY: Moravian University’s School of Professional Studies and Innovation offers term by term, non-tenured teaching appointments to qualified individuals who provide quality educational experiences to adult students. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals to work in a professional learning community where adjunct instructors contribute to and engage in instructional best practice for adult learners in an innovative, nontraditional university setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach synchronous or asynchronous 8-week courses as assigned.
- Ensuring timely management and response to correspondence from students, administrators, and other school officials.
- Maintaining and submitting accurate and timely reports for student grades/progress.
- Delivering grades in accordance with the school policies.
- Enforcing student conduct policies as outlined in the University Catalog.
- Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning.
- Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations
- Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments.
- Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
- Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s or doctoral degree related discipline with online teaching experience.
- 5 years or more of current related practical/professional experience.
- Experience teaching adult learners
- Online, higher education teaching experience is preferred.
